How do I remove a published file?

This guide shows you how to temporarily disable access to a published link or permanently remove it from Orangedox. You’ll learn the difference between disabling and removing, and what happens to access in each case.
Disable a Published Link
To temporarily disable access to your published link
- Go to the Publish app
- Locate the Published link you want to disable
- Click the three dots next to the published link
- Select Disable

Note: Disabled published link can be re-enabled later.
Use this option if you want to pause access without deleting the published link completely.
Remove a Published Link
To permanently remove the published link
- Go to the Publish app
- Locate the Published link you want to disable
- Click the three dots next to the published link
- Select Remove
Note: Removing a published link permanently removes the link from Orangedox along with all associated metrics. Once a link has been removed it cannot be re-created.
Best Practices
Use Disable when you may want to restore access later.
Use Remove only when the published links no longer needed.
Double-Check before removing, since this action cannot be undone.
Review who may still need access before disabling or deleting a published file.
Summary
You can either disable a published file temporarily or remove it permanently: disabling pauses access and can be reversed later, while removing permanently removes the link and cannot be undone.
