Secure Document Sharing

Why do you need Secure Document Sharing?

Previously on Orangedox you could only protect your documents (or Data Rooms) using a password. We received tons of feedback around this feature, most of which was around the fact that passwords really aren’t secure.

In response to this, we’ve decided to scrap passwords in favor of device-level authorization.

How does device-level authorization work?

Now your document recipients (including Data Room participants) will receive an email directly from Orangedox with an access link to the document (or room). This link can only be used ONCE and will grant the recipient browser access for 90 days.

For example, if your recipient opens the access link on their work computer, they will ONLY have access to this document on their work computers browser. Access for all other devices is denied, even if this email is forwarded to someone else.

But what if your recipient wants to open this on their phone and other devices? Don’t worry you’ll be able to resend access to each recipient individually so they can open your document (or room) on another device. Though remember, the more devices you grant access to the higher the chance your document or data room falls into the wrong hands.

You’ll also now have the ability to disable access immediately to individual document recipients!

How do I get started?

Simply log in to your Orangedox account, or sign up for a free account and choose “Secure & Track” when sharing your documents.

Note that Secure Document Sharing and our Data Room products are only offered to our Basic free users for a limited time. These products will be part of our paid plans in the near future.
